Asking The Deeper Questions

Through working with young people over the last 10 years in a variety of ways, from summer camp to teaching and speaking on mission, I've come to realize that young people today are ready for answers to the deepest questions; about their beginnings, their destiny, of God and good and evil, suffering and sin. The retreats I offer allow young people the opportunity to delve into the ultimate questions that shape our hearts: Who am I? Who is God? Where did I come from and where am I going?

I see the task of leading a retreat as pointing to the Lamb of God, as St. John the Baptist did, to allow others to taste the silence that leads to prayer; to "come and see"; to experience the wonder of existence and our own role as disciples of Jesus. I encourage others to read the books of creation, our own lives, and ultimately the Scriptures through the practice of lectio divina and faith-sharing.

With an emphasis on the personal call to own and act on the gift of faith, I see the task of retreats as being a moment of revealing, a great opening up of our eyes to the wonder and awe of God's presence through Eucharistic prayer, lectio divina, personal witness, and dynamic stories drawn from film and music in our culture (and a sense of humor).
